Saturday June 16, 2018 1-3:30PM
You and your Guests are cordially invited to celebrate
with Your Irish Society at The Bull & Bear Tavern
11980 Westheimer Rd., Houston, Texas 77077
The day June 16, 1904, was a big one in the romantic life of
Leopold Bloom, the protagonist of James Joyces' Ulysses, at least
inside his head. In celebration of that day, and Bloom's fictional
perambulations around Dublin during the course of it, James
Joyce fans mark the date each year as “Bloomsday.”
Your Irish Society has annually held a Bloomsday event for a
dozen years, starting out with readings of Joyce"s works, that
were not too well received by the attendees. So we encourage
our members to read Ulysses in the privacy of your home, and
join us for our version of Bloomsday.
Again we will assemble on the day, Saturday June 16th at Tommy
Reilly's westside establishment, Bull & Bear, 11980 Westheimer
Rd a, Houston, TX 77077 behind Specs. We will enjoy the music
and snappy banter of Constant Billy and Irish Dancers from the
Clan Kelly School of Dance. As always your first beverage is on
the Irish Society and a lovely buffet will be provided for your
gastronomic pleasure. The fun begins at 1:00pm
and will continue till 3:30pm and we invite all members to attend
and bring a friend that would be interested in becoming a member
of The Irish Society. We will see you there.
